Donna Ayscough
My approach to painting is simple I create what brings me joy. Drawing from my life experiences and the colorful inspirations that surround me, my work reflects the people and moments that matter most, friends, family, and my lifelong love of art.
My creative journey began in my hometown of Santa Barbara, California, where I was immersed in Spanish architecture, vibrant colors, and a rich artistic culture. These early influences continue to shape what is reflected in all of my work. My travels to Italy and Mexico further deepened my connection to color and energy, leaving a lasting impression on both my perspective and my work. My father, a gifted artist, was a profound influence on me and my greatest supporter.
Today, I split my time between Asheville and Santa Barbara. I find inspiration in the changing landscapes as I drive across the country each journey offering new colors, textures, and stories. My recent paintings reflect scenes that stretch from Western North Carolina to the California coast, shaped by vivid memories and the diverse beauty I encounter along the way.
